event at the Bridge Street Sports Centre in Leominster on the evening of Tuesday 13th December, from 6-8pm. The installers, Southern Solar, have kindly offer to sponsor the refreshments – on top of working flat out in what is fairly poor weather, to ensure the array is completed on time.

We hope it will be a celebration and a chance to raise the profile of the project, to help bring in the remaining finance that we require. Hopefully you will have seen the photos of the installation on our website and the dial showing funds raised to date, on the ‘progress’ section of the site.

For those able to make it, please feel free to bring anyone you chose, but if you could drop me an email, it will help us to get an idea of numbers.

Despite the winds of the last few days the panel installation is still on schedule. See http://www.sharenergy.coop/leominstersolar/ for full details.

7 February 2012 – now postponed til May. See web link below for info
Kingsholm Rugby Stadium, Gloucester
Put the date in your diary now!

Following on from the success of the two previous CCRI conferences exploring rural policy – the 2012 conference will focus on the need for policy change in relation to two inter-related areas of concern: resilience in food production systems, and the management of rural spaces. The day will offer an opportunity to explore issues associated with food security, resilience of farming systems, plant and animal disease, local food production, and managing forest, water and upland landscapes. In the afternoon a panel of academics, practitioners and policy makers will address questions related to policy changes required to deliver a flexible and sustainable rural sector.

A prime objective of the conference is to bring together policy makers, rural stakeholders and academics, to focus on some key rural issues with ample time for discussion on the nature of policy change, the adaptability of the rural resource base, and the creation of resilience in food production systems. The conference will open with an analysis of the past 25 years of rural policy, in order to set current events in context, and close with a session looking forward to the next twenty-five years. Participants will be encouraged to question recent and proposed changes in EU and UK policy in order to develop a shared understanding of the issues, and contribute ideas that will encourage adaptation in rural policymaking for a sustainable future.

More detailed information, including details of speakers and presentations, can be found on our website http://www.ccri.ac.uk/Events/2012CCRIPolicyConference.htm

The delegate rate of £100 includes lunch and refreshments.
