New Economics Foundation –

nef instigated the Sustainable Communities Bill which would have great benefit for Shropshire. A cross-party group of MPs, including Liberal Democrats, Labour, Conservative and Plaid Cymru first introduced the Bill to the House of Commons in March 2003. Before the 2005 General Election, almost 250 MPs signed a motion of support for the Bill and the parliamentary campaign to make the Sustainable Communities Bill law continues to gather strength.

Transport for Everyone in South Shropshire was set up in February 1999 to make the best use of existing transport within South Shropshire. TESS hopes to combat transport inequalities caused by the rural nature of South Shropshire by providing information about public transport, by supporting voluntary car schemes and by setting up projects such as minibus services or lift sharing groups where no other transport opportunities exist. The Freecycle Network™ is made up of many individual groups across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. A Ludlow and Leominster Freecycle group is now underway.

South Shropshire Furniture Scheme –

South Shropshire Furniture Scheme is a registered charity, now in its 12th year of operation. They started out in response to a need expressed by the community, and collect donated furniture and household items to deliver to people on low incomes living in this area. They also deliver a range of training especially aimed at the disadvantaged, but open to all, in wheelchair accessible premises. SSFS now operate from offices in Ludlow and have the Renaissance Centre in Tower Street as their main shop window and retail outlet.
